Printing on the Skin

Printing Tattoos on the Skin

Today in class we practiced printing on to the skin using magazine cuttings. This is another technique rather than using paint.

Products Needed

  • Magazine Cuttings (must be Matt, can not have any shine to them)
  • Non acetone nail varnish remover
  • Cotton Wool
  • Supracolour or Aqua Colours,

Stages

  1. Choose the magazine cutting you want to print on the body, you must make sure their is no shine to the image, it must be Matt otherwise it will no work.
  2. Also you must remember that the image will be backwards when on the skin, this applies mostly the writing.
  3. Once you have cut the magazine cutting out place some non acetone nail varnish remover into a bowl.
  4. Place the magazine cutting on the skin.
  5. Wet some cotton wool with the nail varnish remover, make sure the pad is really wet.
  6. Press the pad onto the magazine cutting, you will need to leave it on their for about 30 seconds, and you will need to keep applying pressure and sweeping over the cutting.
  7. Peel it off carefully, you should then have the imprint on the skin.
  8. If some of the colour doesn't come out you can paint it in with Supracolours.
  9. Wash it off then with soap and water.
