I'm glad I did another practice as it was good to experiment with the different designs. I tried to practice with lots of different elements from my research such as patterns of the dots, dots down the chin and colour on the lips. I tried doing colour down the lips as I thought this would reflect my research from the the; Ta Moko tribe. My favourite design was design five, this is the strongest design and show my research and what I was aiming for from my research. I really like the design pattern and this design work so much better in black and white and is much more effective and bolder. I think this will defiantly give an impact on the catwalk and will make a statement without taking too much away from the designers clothes, which as a makeup artist I need to think about complementing the designer without taking away from the clothes. The other designs(1,2,3,4,6,7,8) would of been too much and would of defiantly take away from complementing the designers clothes and would not work on the catwalk. Design Five is what I am going to use as my final image.

From my previous practices I was not happy with the outcome and I know what I do and don't like. I have drawn some more face charts using the points I wrote on the previous post. I am going to practice these again to make sure they are what i am aiming before I start to shoot.

Design Five

Here is design five, you can't see in this photo but their is also white dots in between the black lines. I have taken the same pattern from design Three and from my previous practices. I really liked the pattern  from that design so I've used the same one but instead of the colours I've used just black and white. I have chosen this because my research into tribes they did use white dots on the face so I want to use that idea but to also add black to it. Hopefully this one will look better in practice. 

Design Six

I have now added black dots down the nose to this design because from my research the tribes add dots to their most beautiful part of their face so I though adding dots down the nose would show this.

Design Seven

It's hard to see here but I've added white lips to this char to give it something different. I'll try this out in my practices.

Design Eight

With this deisgn I have changed the lips to black and also added dots with the chin, i will again try this out in practice and see how it turns out.

Hair Practices and Making the Props

For the hair for my catwalk image I want to incorporate two different techniques that I haven't used before in a shoot and that I am not very confident with but I want to try and use these techniques to push myself as a hair stylist.

The two Techniques I'm going to use are

• French Plaits
• Props in the hair

I have always struggled with french plaits so I am going to have the revise the technique before going to the shoot. Here's some photos of my practices

Props I've made

My inspiration for the props I made are from the photo below, In my initial ideas I said I wanted to use the round rings that the Surma Tribe wear in their mouth and I wasn't sure how to incorporate this but then from looking at my research into avant garde hair and tribes I thought I could mix the two and use the round shape in my props for the hair.

Heres the Prop i made, I got help and inspiration from wig maker, Seema Chopra. I ordered lots of different crepe hair and then I cut out 2 discs out of cardboard and stuck them together and threaded through the crepe hair until it was fully covered. I then used clips to fasten the hair at the back, the added little plaits then on top of the crepe hair to add some more texture as I felt it was abit boring and flat.

Design One

Here are some photos of how I got on with my Practices for look one. I have shown you lots of photos of me doing it step by step and then my final outcome of the practice and what I think about the look.

Started off under the eye, using a cotton bud.

More dots under the eyes

 

Then added dots around the forehead

Added dots on the lips

Added dots down the side of the face

Here is the final look.

Please excuse how bad I look in these photos, I am so glad I practiced this look I used my supra colour pallet and cotton buds for this look. Overall I think this look is too much I preferred it when their wasn't as many dots of the face. This does just look too much and doesn't look like I've thought about the pattern or the colours. I will be rethinking this image.

Design Three Practice

Here is my Face Chart for Design Three, I have taken some colours out from the previous look and I am using a different pattern.

Then applied colour down the cheeks towards the neck.

Using Yellow, green and pink.

Final Look

Here is my final look from design three, I do prefer the pattern compared to my first design I feel it's more structured and thought about however it's still not right. I am going to have to draw some more face charts, I like the pattern but I am not keen on the colours I have chosen, I am going to take this into considiration when drawing my new face charts.

Over Thoughts

• Prefer Design Three than design One
• Like when the pattern is more structured 
• Do not like the use of colours.

Design One

Here is my first Face Chart Design, I took inspiration from the Karo Tribe and the dotting all around the face. From my researched they using white paint but I wanted to try and make it really colourful and use all different colours. I looked at the patterns they created aswell and tried to take inspiration from that. I used supracolour creating this and I practiced on my arm of how to create the perfect dots and I found using a cotton bud was the best. I am going to practice this look on me as I'm not sure how it will turn out, so I must practice this before my final shoot.

Design Two

Here Is the same dotted design as number 1 however I have added green around the lips and pink in the middle. I think this may look too much but I am still going to try it on my pracitce to see how it looks.

Design Three

Here is my third design, I have taken the dotting pattern back a little as I am worried the other one could look took much. I have again tried to choose patterns that I have seen on the Karo Tribe but i have given it my own twist. I am thinking I prefer this pattern but am still going to try all the designs.

Design Four

This is the same design pattern as design four but I have added dots down the nose and the chin and also pink lips. I added the dots down the nose and chin because from the research some tribes that I have looked out add dots down their best feature and I felt the dots down the chin and nose could reflect this. 

Off I go to practice this look, they will be on my next post so watch out!

Above is my final Catwalk Moodboard, I have been playing around and differing with it but I feel this one best shows and reflects the look I am wanting to create. I hope that once I have created my final look I hope this mood board will reflect my final image. I would want to the viewer to look at this moodboard and my final image and for them to see how I got to my final image. In this moodboard I have tried to show my favourite images from my research and the ones that have inspired me the most. I feel I have also shown quite a good range of images within this mood board, I wanted to show some fashion images, tribal images, some accessories and also some paintings and patterns.This overall has given me the most inspiration for my Catwalk image. I feel this really shows and gives me a strong direction of where I am going with my catwalk image.
